Steps on How to Remove Your Windows Password

Windows 7

  • Click on ‘Start’ and then ‘Control Panel’
  • Click on the User ‘Accounts and Family Safety’ link
  • Click the ‘Remove your password’ link in the “make changes to your user account
  • Enter your current Windows password in the provided text box
  • Then close any open windows related to user account

  • Log in to your Windows 7 computer.
  • Click “Start” and then enter “netplwiz” in the search box. And then press “Enter” key.
  • This command will load “Advanced User Accounts” Control Panel applet.
  •  In the “User” table, uncheck “Users must enter a username and password to use this computer”, And then click “Apply” enter the username you wish to disable the password for
  •  Enter your account password in the two fields and then click “OK”.

Windows 8 & Windows 10

  • Click the ‘User Accounts and Family Safety or User Accounts’
  • Click on ‘Make changes to my account in PC settings’
  • Click on ‘Sign-in options’ tab to the left of the Settings
  • Select the ‘Change’ button in the Password
  • Then Type your current password in the text box on the next screen and click “Next”. Hit’Next’ once more on the next page but don’t fill out any information. Entering a blank password will replace the old password with a blank one.
  • You’ll then have to close out of the open window and exit Settings.

Note: If you want to delete your password because you’ve forgotten it and can no longer access Windows, then you won’t be able to use the method above. The standard “remove your password” process requires that you have access to your Windows.
